The fabulous mountain scenery & the rich cultural diversity traverses across a wide spectrum of lush rural farmlands and pretty villages where we see the local women folk humming romantic tunes while on their daily chores & cows with vermilion splattered foreheads that seem to be smiling at you in a hearty welcome to their home turf; the trail heads towards a deep gorge that slices between 2 peaks – Mt. Hiunchuli & the famous sacred Machhapuchre peak [fishtail] as we head through dense bamboo and rhododendron forest by the narrow Modi Khola [river] valley & the landscapes we witness on the way warm our beating hearts. The base-camp is your ultimate reward for selecting this trek & every painful limb will shout “it is worth it!” once you arrive at the  Colosseum of mountains. You’ll be enclosed by these enormous giants & you might discover it tough to keep your mouth close. Jaw-dropping sights are absolutely common here. And  during an ABC trek in full moon the mountain glow up wonderfully and you will want to capture them in your camera for sure “Watching Hawk migration” from ABC. Annapurna trekking trail is one of the most popular and striking trails that may require around 5 to 7 hours walk per day

 

On this trek, we bunk out in cozy tea house lodges & enjoy the sumptuous apple pies found here. This is a ‘must do’ trek at least once in a lifetime.

 

Safety

We strongly recommend the use of a neck wallet or money belt while travelling, for the safe-keeping of your passport, air tickets, cash and other valuable items. Leave your valuable jewelry at home – you won’t need it while travelling. Many of our hotels have safety deposit boxes, which is the most secure way of storing your valuables. A lock is recommended for securing your luggage.

Your leader will accompany you on all included activities, however during your trip you’ll have some free time to pursue your own interests, relax and take it easy or explore at your leisure. While your leader will assist you with the available options in a given location, please note that any optional activities you undertake are not part of your Intrepid itinerary, and Intrepid makes no representations about the safety of the activity or the standard of the operators running them. Please use your own good judgement when selecting an activity in your free time. Please also note that your Leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the trip itinerary if it’s deemed necessary due to safety concerns.

ITINERARY Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu – (1360m) After your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in medieval and modernized Kathmandu, you will be warmly greeted by our office representative and transfered to the hotel. After check in and some refreshments, our senior sherpa guide will come to meet you and give you a brief orientation about Annapurna Base Camp Trek. You can then go for a stroll down the street to get familiar with the neighbourhood, have supper and go to bed. This is your first overnight in the valley of temples and cows, probably the most in the world.

Day 2 : Kathmandu Valley SightseeingThe capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, being the historical and cultural heart of the country, is a popular destination for tourists, trekkers and other types of adventure seekers. The city is a marvelous amalgamation of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western cultures and influences. Patan and Bhaktapur are its two major neighboring cities. These two cities, like Kathmandu, have a rich historical, cultural and religious legacy which is reflected in the many temples, monuments and artifacts that they contain. You will be taken on a half-day guided tour of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur cities. In Kathmandu, you will be visiting Pashupatinath, the most famous and revered Hindu shrine in the country; Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal, Soyambhunath, which contains both Buddhist and Hindu shrines and stands as testimony to the religious harmony that exists in the country; and the 15th-century 55-window palace in Bhaktapur. An orientation session for the trek, which commences the following day, will be organized in the evening.

Day 3 : Drive to Pokhara – (910m.) 6 hrs DriveAfter breakfast, we leave our hotel early morning for a drive with scenic views along the road to Pokhara via Prithivi national highway. The drive could take roughly 7-8 hrs to reach Pokhara. We also have the option for a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara for 35 minutes. We will visit some prime spots in the lake city after refreshing at our hotel we will do a tour of some beautiful places in Pokhara that include Davids fall (if we reach early by road), and the Phewa Lake etc. we then do an overnight at our hotel by the lake in the lovely ‘city of lakes’ on BB Plan.

Day 4 : Pokhara to Ghandruk – (1990m) 5 hrs walk We will leave Pokhara early in the morning either by taxi or car to Nayapul. From here, it is an easy descent all the way through rhododendron, oak and other kinds of dense forests. You can hear chirping of various birds on the way. This is one of the popular destinations for the birds’ lovers. Ghandruk is a big Gurung village. From this village you could see good views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna (7455m.), Annapurna III (7755m.) and Fishtail. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 5 : Trek to Chhomrung – (2210m) 5 hrs walkAt the beginning of the day, you ascend gently for an hour up to Ghandrukot (2100m.) and descend steeply to the Kimron Khola (1700m). Chomrong is a gateway to Annapurna Sanctuary trek and inhabited by the Gurung ethnic tribe who inhabit this area the most. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 6 : Trek to Bamboo – (2350m) 5 hrs walkLeaving Chomrong, the trail descends on a stone staircase and crosses the Chomrong Climbing further on a rocky trail (beware of the stinging nettles) you reach three hotels at Sinuwa, at 2350m check post. You descend a long, steep stone staircase into deep bamboo and rhododendron forests. It is then a short distance on a muddy trail to Bamboo Lodge (2340m.). Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 7 : Trek to Deurali – (3140m) 5 hrs walkYou trek gently & ascend through bamboo forests with varieties of rhododendron and oak trees. The first town you reach is Dovan (2630m.) where there are few lodges and camp sites. Now you pass through muddy trail which traverses high above the river. It takes approximately twenty minutes to reach Deurali (3230m.) Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 8 : Trek to Annapurna Base Camp – (4130m) 5 hrs walkThis is one of the places where you can enjoy the view of Mount Hiunchuli (6441m.), Annapurna South (7229m.), Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna III (7555m.), Gangapurna (7454m.) and Machhapuchhare or Fish Tail (6997m.). The path follows through alpine forest. After a short trek, you begin to approach Annapurna Base Camp (4170m.). From here, you can see the panoramic views of several peaks which are all so clear. The views hereabouts will give you so clear pictures that will linger in your memories for as long as it takes. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day9 : Trek to Bamboo – (2335m) 6 hrs walk Early in the morning after a warm breakfast, we can see mesmerizing sunrise views and revert back to Bamboo from Annapurna Base Camp and do an overnight at our lodge.

Day10 : Trek to Jhinu Danda (Hot water springs) – (1780m) 4/5 hrs walk The path is descent up to Bamboo passing through forests with varieties of rhododendron, oaks and bamboo plants. After Bamboo, the trail goes steeply up to the Kuldi Ghar and now the trail is quite flat until we reach Sinuwa. We trek gradually descending to the Chomrong Khola and we go up a stone staircase which you think will never end for almost an hour till we reach Chomrong. The last part of the trail is steeply down to Jhinudanda. From the town you walk down for 20 minutes to reach Hot Spring at the bank of the Modi Khola. You can unwind yourself at the hot springs & pamper your body with a hot bath. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day11 : Trek to Nayapul and then drive to Pokhara city. – 7 hrs walkToday after breakfast, we will hike up to Nayapul and then take a bus ride to reach Pokhara. The trek to Nayapul is a lovely hike as you can enjoy the views of beautiful landscapes along the trail back. We will haul up for lunch on the way.In about 4-5 hours, we reach Nayapul and stop for some rest before we get onto our vehicle up to Pokhara. Nayapul to Pokhara is about a one hour drive. Overnight at our hotel inclusive bed and breakfast.

Day12 : Drive back to KathmanduWhile driving from Pokhara to Kathmandu, we head up to Damauli, Dumre, Mugling and Kurintar where Nepal’s first Cable car is operated to reach Manakamana Temple, this is a temple where most Nepalese come to have their wishes granted before leaving home or getting married.  From Naubise we climb up to Thankot, the gateway to Kathmandu and finally reach our hotel & a lovely soft warm bed and farewell dinner in typical Nepali restaurant with cultural dance program.

Day13 : Departure DayAfter breakfast and our last day in Kathmandu, our vehicle and escorts will be on standby to drop you to the international airport three hours before our scheduled flight back home.
