Photography and Journalism
Nepal is a perfect destination to come to learn about photojournalism. From the majestic snow-capped mountains the cultures and the people of Nepal, the country presents photographers and cultural enthusiast with an abundance of opportunity to really enjoy and enrich their experience. You couldn’t ask for a better destination.
If you have a new DSLR camera but you only know how to operate your auto feature, we will give you an understanding about how to use the camera in manual and other modes we providing training with theoretical and practical use. After training our experienced photojournalism will take you in the field for photography practice. We regularly organize cultural and landscape tours, and night and news photography practice. You will work under the close supervision of a seasoned professional that’ll guide you and teach you all the skills, required to make it as a photojournalist. Editing photos, taking advantage of light, operator control and etc. are all part of the tricks you’ll learn while you volunteer.
You will go to place where you can take interesting pictures. That can be in a marriage ceremony or a chariot drawing festival, where crowds merry with celebration sign and dance. It can be a hind temple, where exquisitely carved windows and statuses offer visitors a marvelous look at ancient art. You’ll find the culture of northern Nepal around the giant Buddhist stupas of Kathmandu, where you’ll meet maroon colored monks and people of oriental faces. All these and much more you’ll agree with your supervisor before you venture into any of them. You’ll be accompanied by your supervisor.
Requirements:- If you know how to take picture’s or at least know about some of the functions of SLR camera, you’ll have an easier time. If you don’t know no worries. The aim of the projects is to turn you into a photo journalist. For that, you’ll learn all aspect of it. But you must have passion of the work.
Accommodation:- A simple room with a bed. We advise you to bring sleeping bag and mosquito net with you. Or you can always buy here which is 2-3 times cheaper than back home.
Meals:- Breakfast occurs at 7:00 am and consists of a cup of tea and biscuits. Lunch is served at 11:30 am and usually dall/bhat( rice, lentils and vegetable) dinner is at around 7:00 pm and is once more dall/bhat. The food is very simple but also extremely delicious and filling.
Start date:- Are very flexible, minimum time of stay in this program is one weeks and the maximum stay is five months.
