Veterinary and animal care
We are a non-governmental organization dedicated to helping improve the health and welfare of animals in Nepal. There is never a shortage of opportunities when it comes to your veterinary skills. While also traveling some where you’ve always wanted to see. If you’re interested in veterinary medicine or just have a passion for animals, there is a placement for you. If your passion is working with animals, then consider participating in one of veterinary program. Assist experienced veterinarians with medical and surgical need at shelter or a clinic. This is your chance to improve your skills with animals that need your care.
We provides skilled teams of veterinarians that execute community wide spay neuter campaigns as well as health consolations for dog and other animals. Our goal is to control the local animal population as well as treat and prevent zoonotic diseases. Our team also perform other surgeries or treat injuries on a case by case basis. Al surgeries are performed on community animals that require sterilization. Members of the local community own most of the surgical patients, but homeless cats and dogs are also considered for sterilization.
As a volunteer on this project you can learn so much on the job and your hosts, both expert animal care takers, will be happy to share their animal care wisdom. This is a wonderful program to immerse yourself in the culture and way of life in Nepal while helping rescued animals. Volunteer on this project are accommodated at one of our host family, which is perfectly located in a nice area. The host family is well managed and meticulously clean and volunteers will all be placed together. This is a perfect home away for home and a wonderful base for your stay in Nepal. This program is available flexible all year round. The minimum time required to sign up in this program is just one week and the maximum stay 20 weeks in Nepal.
Suggestion:- The schools do not have much for you to work with you will basically be teaching in a bare room with only a chalk board. We suggest you bring along any teaching supplies you feel will help. Large book stores have a great selection of teaching supplies including Q cards and short stories with related question placed on cards for convenient travel. It is greatly appreciated if you are able to leave any teaching supplies at your project.
Requirements:- There are no specific requirements for the programs. However the best things you can have are patience and a genuine desire to teach and help the children, plus a sense of humor!
Accommodation:- A simple room with a bed. We advise you to bring sleeping bag and mosquito net with you. Or you can always buy here which is 2-3 times cheaper than back home.
Meals:- Breakfast occurs at 7:00 am and consists of a cup of tea and biscuits. Lunch is served at 11:30 am and usually dall/bhat( rice, lentils and vegetable) dinner is at around 7:00 pm and is once more dall/bhat. The food is very simple but also extremely delicious and filling.
Start date:- Are very flexible, minimum time of stay in this program is one weeks and the maximum stay is five months.
